2024 UC5. Problems...display changing, Functions turning on/off with no input

By itself the screen goes blank, the seat cooling turns on, the seat heat turns on, and the split screen, like showing two functions, will change up to like just climate only. Sometime the buttons at the bottom like climate or media, do nothing, even when sitting still.

I have the .46 version, which I think is the latest.

I have disconnected the battery, and have done a reset.

Is uc5 just goofy or is there any fix for this mess?

So anybody else had blank screens, changing screens, seat heat magically coming on?

I've read many reports of intermittent black, white, or blank screens and erratic controls with Uconnect 5 starting with the 2022 models.

Most users seem to get relief with a reboot by holding the volume button in for 10-15 seconds.

If a reset is not successfully correcting your radio issues, I would try to find a competent dealer to assist you and a warranty replacement if required.

You might also send a private message to @RamCares to see if they can provide some assistance.

Thanks Ramdriver I'm in touch with ramcares. I won't hold my breath because the uc5 problems are intermittent and throw no error codes.

Ram dealers won't replace anything in my long experience without an error code or without seeing a problem in person.

I think the chance of them replacing my radio based on my verbal but detailed reports of a problem are zero. That's unless a few thousand others have reported the same thing, and then only maybe.... But we would have heard about it on this forum already, wouldn't we?

Why not practice your videography and video the fault with your cell phone.

Also, a detailed occurrence log with times, dates, duration, and features has considerable value.

If these above items are provided to a competent dealer, and hopefully the dealer you purchased from, I would expect a warranty replacement after they spend time studying your truck.

RamCares may be helpful if you're not getting traction at the dealership.

Ramcares is worthless thus far. They provide a number to uconnect. That's an hour long process trapped in a circular path of press 1 for this and 2 for that and it repeats over and over.

Finally i press the wrong number and get the wrong person and he says you have to press 9 which is not a stated option. I'm on hold another hour, they answer, it sounds like horses in the background with a open live phone and they ultimately disconnect me. I then send an email to uconnect, but no reply 24 hours later.

My hunch is they are overwhelmed with maybe thousands or tens of thousands of uconnect problems and you will never get through.

I called the dealer and asked if a video of the problem would suffice and they say no, they have to have an error code for warranty replacement. Thus unless a radio breaks and stay broken, you'll never get a replacement!

I have firmware uc5 ver. 46 and there's no telling if uconnect knows of these intermittent problems, or even if a future update might fix it. I wind up in techno limbo with an 11 month old $80k truck with a whacko radio and it's clear Ram and ramcares truly does not care.

I guess the only fix is to pay $1000 for an aftermarket or mopar radio .

Real diehards could take Ram to small claims court for the $1000, and I'd bet a lot of judges would award you the money, but most of us don't want all that trouble. And the catch there is you might need an expert to verify the non working radio.

In small claims court I did sue Geico years ago on a diminished value claim on a $3200 bad parking lot fenderbender on a new Ram where i was not at fault. The judge granted me $4000, but it took 3 trips to court and $1000 paid to an expert. Not easy.
