but you can tune your trans to hold the truck in 5th.

i guess my issue is the fact that 90% of my miles are highway speed.
what i dont want to do is sit at 2500RPM or more at 85 mph for an hour on end

Yea i understand where you are coming from. But 98% of my on road driving is on 55mph roads.

I can simply put the truck in 5th gear every time I get in it, too. But thats not what I want. I would like to essentially gain another gear down low instead of never using the high gear.

After driving my half ton ram with the 8 speed for the last 20k miles, it drives me buggy getting in the power wagon. Its pretty much my only complaint with the truck.

Hell. I’m headed to Kansas to pick up my 18’ tilt trailer. My trucks going to feel like a beast with all that oxygen. I live at 7000 ft. Im going to gain like 120 hp! Lol you guys should try living with it at altitude. It’s not bad honestly. I don’t really notice. I set the cruise at 80 and I never even notice.

My next set will be 37’s. I’m running 35’s now. I’ll also be doing a gear swap with the 37’s. I’m considering going with 4.88’s got 3.73’s now

I love my truck!

The point of forums is to share knowledge, not just tell everyone when they ask a question to spend thousands, and if it doesn't work spend a couple more...
Actually we all know what forums are REALLY for. Food **** is for food forums. RAM **** is for RAM forums.

Oh and maybe some knowledge as well. I'm just saying...

I have a '14 6.4 and had 2.5" level and 35x12.5 bfg mud terrains on and best I could get is 13.5. I put it back to stock and put my Firestone transforce HT tires on 275/70r18 and I average 14.5 now. 18 on the high way
Almost the exact same experience. 2016 5.7 on 2.5" level and 35" tires. 11-12 MPG city and 13-14 MPG highway (11-12 if I am 80 + MPH). I was getting 14-15 city and 17+ hwy on OEM ties / wheels.
