I have a 2009 2wd, if I was to put a rear differential from a 3500 2wd dually under it, would it be the same as a 3500 for hauling and towing ?

I don’t know enough but I’d say my gut feeling is the following

Short answer is no bc frames, transmission, brakes, etc. are different still.

But I’d say yeah it probably would technically (maybe not legally) increase what you could tow/haul by some amount, though. No idea how to tell the exact impact it’d have though.

No matter what you do to it, legally they go by the sticker inside the drivers door. So the answer is no
