I've seen on here that the second gen rams go up to 2002 and the 3rd gen rams start at 2002. I have an 02 ram 1500 sport. Is there any way to determine which it is for sure? I'm trying to solve a couple issues I'm having and it would help if I'm looking in the right place. Thanks.

2002 was the first year for the 3rd gens. The 2nd gen ended in 2001.

It's based on body style. For 1500s, 2001 was the last year of the 2nd gen. 2500 and 3500 trucks however carried the body style into 2002.

Now if you have a 5.9/46re in your truck.... you'll be here in the 2nd gen section for that because 2002 was the only year the 360 was offered officially. There were some 03s that got leftover stock

Well I'm starting to think I got a mix matched truck that has been pieced together. The vin and title of course say it's an 02 ram 1500. I know it has the 4.7L in it but the sticker on the hood says 5.9. Now everything I have seen says it has 4 O2 sensors, however I can only find 2, 1 in front of the cat, and behind the cat. There are NONE in the manifolds. I was told by a dodge dealer that this is correct, and some of them were made this way, but as it seems, from everything I find is that I must have the only one.
