2wd cab on a 4wd running gear.

I know I'v read that you have to swap tranny tunnel to put a 2wd cab on a 4wd truck, because it won't clear the transfer case.
My question is.
Will a body lift clear it with out swapping tunnels?
If so...how many inches is necessary?

IIRC, a 3.0" body lift will clear the transfer case.
