I have 4x4 ram and would like to switch to 3.92, I plan on switching the front my self, if it is just swapping front differential and plan to drive to shop to get the rear done, is it possible to drive the truck with out putting it in 4x4?

One option nobody ever seems to think about if they're looking to go to 3.92's with a 4X4,is hunt up a wrecked truck that has them and swap the complete housings, front and rear. The housing swap can be done by most guys on a driveway with normal hand tools, and in the long run might be your cheapest option. Leaves you with a pair of diffs that you can either sell,or hang onto and swap back in,if you ever decide to get rid of the truck.

That's what I'm doing, found a wrecked 15 with 3.92's t-boned. I've already put a $100 deposit on it and it's $100 Saturday between 10-2, so whatever you get across the scale during that time is $100! $200 for a complete 3.92 front diff, sign my ass up, just a lot of work to tear it out in the yard

Yes look for a truck with 3:92 and get it used.
I have it in my truck with the 8 spd
Hauls ass.
Also get a good intake and exhaust. I have vararam and magnaflow.
Next is a moes throttle body and good muscle truck tires.
