I have a 2002 Ram with a blown 4.7L engine, it is the JTEC design.

I have recently picked up another 4.7L engine that came out of a 2003 Ram. I am assuming to it's NGC but I didn't get a look at the PCM.

My game plan is to rebuild the 2003 engine and put it in my 2002 Ram.

Here's the information I have gathered from the internet, if you see some bad information let me know:

The 2002 the Dodge Ram was built JTEC early production and late production 2002 was built NGC.

The tone ring on the crankshaft is different.
JTEC = 16 tooth
NGC = 32 tooth

The reluctor ring on the passenger side cam has a different window pattern.

The PCM plug count is different:
JTEC = 3 plugs
NGC = 4 plugs

Are there any other compatibility issues I need to be concerned about besides the timing set?

You will need to put a JTEC crankshaft tone ring and a JTEC camshaft timing gear set in the 2003 engine. After that it is plug and play....or pray....lol

Also check that the cam and crank sensors are not different between the two types as well.

Beyond that, I have not a clue. Good luck.
