Hey guys! I have a 2012 ram 1500 sport and I need to get new shocks so been looking at options..today I found a 4 in lift on Facebook marketplace so was thinking about getting it but wasn't sure what the difference between the 2012-2018 lift and the 2009-2011. The reason I'm asking is I have a 2010 diff I'd like to put in soon here to swap everything to 4:56 gears. If anybody has advice on doin that that would be nice to! Thanks!

I think the difference has something to do with the front diff angles so the bracket that is suposed to drop your front diff might be different in the older years, i think 2011 and before. I don't know much about bracket lifts though only what i think i've read around here about them. Hopefully the people versed on that style lift will correct the info as needed and provide you with better more accurate details.

@ram1500rsm is on the right track, the 2011 and up have a high pinion front diff whereas the 2010 and below have a low pinion so the brackets for mounting are different.

as a side note the low pinion has an 8” ring gear, high pinion is 8.5”.

If you look at lift kits 2012 is the odd year. Lift options for 2010-11 then 2013-18 2012 has its own kit. They did a different style front diff that are not the same. So yes angles are different along with drop brackets and mounting locations.
