4 piece tonneau question

OK I just took the 4 piece hard tonneau off my 2013 2500 6’4”. It would lock/unlock with my doors. But taking it off, no wires no power source no ANYTHING that connect the tonneau to the truck other than 4 bolts. Is this just done bluetooth or???. I’m putting a leer topper on so I’m not sure where I’ll get power for that for lights and potentially a power lock. I do have a hard plastic liner so maybe there’s a factory harness behind that? But it was no way no how connected in any fashion to the locks on that tonneau. Anybody know how this works?

You're positive it wasn't the tailgate locking and unlocking? What kind (brand name) of cover did you take off?

Do you open the tailgate before opening the cover, that is the way mine works, unlock the doors unlocks the tail gate that I open to get at the topper latch, mine is a roll up so would different I suppose. I have seen hardtops that have key locks on them , like a topper, pita when they rust ,freeze up.
