When I put truck into 4 wheel high it stays in for only a short time, works fine when it's in but always pops out. Is it simply a linkage adjustment issue or something more?

My 2012 1500 Laramie won't engage the 4wd ?, Turn the knob on dash and nothing happens? No clicking,,No Light on the dash? Any Help Would Be A Help
