Im about to do it. thought about it many times. Even though it's goin to hurt, I am not afraid to cut. I've had it enough with people saying it only looks 98% good.

Can't wait to see it. I'm in a 1500 with a 4" lift on 37's. I think it fills in the wells real nice. I'm looking at getting a 2500 in the near future and was going to do the same set up you are talking about

Not sure what part of the country youre in, but be forewarned, Running beadlocks on street vehicles is illegal in most states, and depending on where you are they may impound you. I've had multiple friends stopped by NV highway patrol and CHP and had their vehicles impounded for running actual beadlocks. They also will require retorquing every 500 miles or so.

my current wheels are 5" (= 0 offset on 9inch wheel) backspace and they stick out about 2 inches. So with 3 inches of backspace it should give me another 2 inches on each side. I think that will make my truck look more proportionate with the lift. Coz now it looks kinda narrow and tall.

Just my 0.02c worth,

If you're going to cut and finish for this project, you might want to check out AEV's solution for 40" tires. They have a solution for 40" tires with only 2" of lift. Unless you want the monster truck look! In which case, yay! lol

5" of lift isn't enough to clear 40" tires on wheels with 3" of BS without cutting the cab and front doors. Even if you use AEV flares you won't clear those wheels. 17x10 with at least 5.5" of BS should fit with your setup. If you want a lot of stance you'll need more lift.

I have BDS 4 link that pushes the axle sightly forward (not as mucn as AEV though) so according to my calculation there shouldn't be too much cutting. we'll see

you are scaring me man. I have BDS 4 link that pushes the front axle slightly forward and I measured bunch of times and I dont think I will have to cut into the door. have you seen fabfours open fender system? they fit crazy wide 40s with only leveling kit and they didnt have to cut the door.
