I finally decided to build a truck the way I want it:
Diesel
Strong mechanically
44 inch tires with minimal lift

Here is the progress

First the car
2005 Ram 3500 super duty, 5.9 cummins with 110 k kilometers on the clock

Here in Iceland we are required to have flares that cover the tire. I decided to use flared fenders and widen them on the inside of the headlights. This means moving the headlights out by about 4 inches.

Thank you for positive feedback.

Here is a picture of the rims after widening and beadlock. These are the original 17" steel rims that came with the truck.

Nice looking project! Can't wait to see how that looks in the end! Did I miss where you changed the rear axle to single rear wheel as opposed to the dual rear wheel axle that was on it at the beginning??

Thanks. No axle change needed. The tires are as wide as the dual ones. Ony need a spacer.

if you don't mind me asking, cause I come from Alberta where we have huge earthmovers with those big tires that cost 100,000 per tire, how much those tires each cost? i find it fascinating how the bigger the piece of rubber, the price jumps way out of proportion with the increase in size! i'm guessing 500-600 bucks canadian a tire?

Good question. These are Nokian radial tires that were developed for Arctic truck. The price is an eyewatering USD 1900 each. However, they cannot be compared to diagonals in terms of road manners.

i bet! 1900 each. guh....like i said, out of proportion with amount of rubber, commercial application allows them to charge so much. everytime i see an oversize semi with a load of big earthmover tired on it, it's like 10 of them. 1 million bucks worth of rubber right there heading to alberta oil sands.
