2001 ram 1500 won't shift out of first unless I let off, it stays in 2nd for a very short time, flawlessly shifts to 3rd and then 4 (overdrive) then if I floor it from overdrive, it will act like neutral, hit the limiter and won't grab a gear until I let off and let it idle. This all started today. For the last 3k miles it would very rarely slip out of 3rd at 4k while wide open, now this. Any ideas?

This is gonna sound weird, but theres a chance of it being your O2 sensor. Last year out of nowhere, my O2 sensor went bad and started malfunctioning. Didnt throw a code for it for until a day or 2 into the issue. Low governor pressure came up when this issue began and my transmission felt like it was stuck in one of the drive gears, and didnt really want to shift up or down. Replaced my sensors inside the trans and it turned out the downstream o2 sensor had went bad (cat-back). The O2 sensor is tied into the PCM so when the o2 sensor went bad, it was sending bad data into the trans.

This was my issue so hopefully this can give you at least one suggestion. You can unplug the sensor and if the issue stops, then its the O2 sensor.

Somebody stole the catalytic converter. I had a straight pipe welded in it's place.
