So im new to this forum and to doing any sort of mods to any vehicle. And I know that if I searched for a while I could probly find all the answers I need. BUT when I do find info I ususally dont know what im looking at so here we go.

I just bought a 06 Mega Cab Hemi 5.7L 4x2 (i have already got all the crap from my buddies), and I have 3-4k to put into some mods. I just dont know exactly what to get and the things I do want I dont know what brand or type. I know alot of that is personal preferance but please just give me some ideas on how to get the most bang for my buck. My thoughts were-

Magnaflow catback dual exhaust
CAI
superchips cortex
and a leveling kit

Welcome to RF!

I'd skip a catback - just have a muffler shop do the work (less $$). Cortex - YES! CAI, Vararam is a GREAT one - and with the rest........level, body lift and tires? :D

Welcome to the forum bud. You have a good list there and shouldnt be over 2k tops with that list. I would also add in a magnaflow y pipe when doing your exhust. You could go into the motor and do cam and head work but would require a diff tuner if you go aggressive. Being a 2500 headers will be limited. You could do gears that would be about another 1500.

Welcome!!

I would say with as big of a truck as that is, and the fact that its 2wd, go with a set of gears (prefferably 4.56's) and a better diff. That will set you back about $1500. The superchips cortex 3865 with the advanced trans tuning would be next, shouldnt set you back no more than what about $400 or so? CAI, you can either build your own for about $50 or buy a prefabbed one for $350. Get the exhaust worked out, Catbacks are nice if you are looking for looks, in all reallity though they dont do much else except cost a lot of money. I'd pick the muffler you like and take it to a shop to be welded up and finishd out to save you some cash. After that maybe through in a rear swaybar for handling, a ported throttle body for a little extra pep and call it a day. Should be out of it with about a grand to spare and have one very nice well moving truck.

Then again, I cant remember do all megas come with 4.10s? if thats the case then leave the gears out of it and work on a lift or drop for it and still have over a grand left for something else.

Don't know where you're at, but if you're in the salt belt, Magnaflow has a nice stainless catback system for a dual exhaust setup.

I've seen some Megas with 3.73, if you plan for bigger tires, then 4.56 would be a nice improvement. If it doesn't have LSD, get one... that long beast will need it. Otherwise the gear based LSD they put in there is a nice unit and can be reused so you're looking at around $700-800 for a gear swap.

The Vararam is a nice intake. For basic function, I like my AirAid MIT kit.

Yours came stock correct?

Id say find out what gears you have in there now, if they are 4.10s leave them be, if they are anything less bump them up to a 4.10 or 4.56, personally I'd go up to a 4.56.

Yes 4:10 was a option you could upgrade to in the Mega
but most people dont upgrade and then kick themselves
