So I've noticed this year that my truck seems to pulse when in 4WD. It feels like the motor is misfiring or one of my tires has a tumor or something. It only does it in 4WD and when I'm getting on the skinny pedal. I've turned off traction control and put in tow/haul to try and trouble shoot. Does it in every mode.

I have put 5100's in the front at 2.8" and 1.75" rear coil spacers since I bought it. But it doesn't do it in 2WD or when you coast or brake. I didn't notice last year before I did the level, but I only had it in 4WD once and it wasn't even needed then. I'm not getting any CEL or codes either.

Have you guys experience anything like this or do you know what I might be dealing with?

it seems common with the leveled trucks. Especially cause you are maxed out on the front end of those Bil's.

It is the angle of the front axles then you think? It would make sense I guess the way the keys work inside at the TC.

It only seems to do it sometimes though which leads me to think it might be an electrical system. I ran my daughter down to a friends last night while the truck was still kind of cold and it didn't seem to want to do it then.

have you tried shutting the traction control completely off, in 4wd only hold the traction button for about ten seconds it will pop up esc system off, doesn't seem to do it as much when I do this, seems pretty common on our trucks even not leveled

Wait, you have to hold traction control to turn it off? I just hit the button and it shows the icon on the dash that looks like you're peeling out, lol. I wasn't aware there were different modes of off?

ya, by just pressing it it doesn't fully disengage, if you hold it for about ten seconds a message will pop up on your dash esc system off or something like that, only in 4wd modes and cant be moving

Yeah, I'm still fishin' though. Gonna try this shutting down traction control in 4WD thing. I didn't even know such a thing existed. I always thought pressing the button did the same thing no matter the drive mode I was in. We'll see. :)

Something is definitely going on. I had the shake in 2WD leaving work. Then halfway down the interstate at 70 - 75 I start getting a shake like a tire is out of balance. There were a couple pot holes I couldn't avoid and I'm hoping I didn't just bust a belt in one of the tires.

The other shaking though is clearly different as it's most noticeable at slow speeds while accelerating. Think I'm going to have to make a trip to the dealer next week. Figures, just heard we could get as much as 10" of snow Sunday. Looks like I'll be in the Commander. :flame:

So I found out I lost a wheel weight. Had it balance and the vibration at high speed is gone.

I can't nail down the acceleration shake though. I've had it do it in 2WD after being in 4WD now. Does it in 4WD with traction control all the way off (by holding for 10 seconds). Does it in tow/haul mode as well. Sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. Think I'm going to get to the dealer next week after we thaw out a little.

I seem to have it in 2WD after using 4WD. I have no idea what the problem is. After reading a whole thread about the torque converter, I'm starting to wonder if it's related to that.

You mentioned something about installing the Bilsteins on a buddy's truck a different way and not having that issue. What did you mean by having the shocks backwards?

I have noticed it before only on wet roads wide open getting on the expressway in 4 auto. That is the only time I have ever had it happen, and it happened 2 or 3 times, all same situation.

Have you modified your suspension at all or is it still stock?

In 4 auto and when hard on the skinny pedal my front end feels like it's gonna shake apart. Dealer here says it's from the level spacers changing the axel angles. I DO NOT get the shake in 2wd. Just 4auto. Traction on or off.. Tow haul off etc etc. Dealer says nothing wrong just an axel vibration. And my truck has 60k on it but has brand new front axels 5 months ago. Did the same shake last winter with just level before the bl and rear spacers

Great info. Amazing what these dealers consider "normal" on these trucks.

This is definitely a known issue with keveling a 4 wheel drive ram with ifs. The higher you go in tbe front the more you increase the cv angle. With it happening in 2 wheel drive after using 4 wheel - my guess the 4 wheel just hasnt disengaged yet
