Can you elaborate more on this... does your dash "light" indicators come on? Do you have a "4wd servo" light or CEL's? If you put it in 4hi or lo, can you feel it pull?

Might be the front axle disconnect not engaging. Not sure if that would trigger a 4wd service light as it is separate from the transfer case...

the 4wd works off engine vacum, so start there, check vacuum lines, also in the front diff. there's a pin that slides to engage the 4wd and if there's rust on it it won't slide so you need to take it a part and clean it or replace it

.. the truck came with the lift? Did u test the 4x4 when you bought it? If not then This could be the reason it was traded in. climb under there and make sure there is a drive shaft. I have seen where people pull the front drive shaft cause they did a sketchy lift.

None of that is true on a 4th gen 1500.
