I get the wheel spin activating the 4x4. I am assuming it is actually comparing the revolution of the 2 rear wheels.

My question, is making a hard turn enough difference In rotation to activate the 4x4?

I have been wondering about this issues as well.. On the fords you have a hub you can unlock or let free wheel where as on teh Ram and chev/gmc you do not.

I saw a video from a guy that makes a replacement front hub for the rams with a locking hub.

http://therammaninc.com/

In reading some of the post it seem having a hub you can either leaved locked or have the ability to unlock seem to be a better?? way to help with front end wear and tear and get a bit more MPG..

I know there are a lot,, lot of truck SUV etc on road with the full time spinning from axles and not a lot of issues.

So is the cost worth the benefit??
