Just wanted to let you guys know that I have successfully swapped out my 44-44 for a 44-45. All you need is a 44-45 case, a 44-45 switch and AlfaOBD software. Once the case and switch is swapped out you just need to change the “Transfer Case Type” within the BCM. This is done with the AlfaOBD software. You change the t case type from 44-44 to 44-45 the truck then controls the encoder motor perfectly. The result is your truck will perform as if it came from the factory with 44-45.

I believe I am the first person to successful swap t cases and have it work properly on the forums.

For those that don't want to swap transfer cases and haven't heard about this, PM @Brandon-w and ask him about his 44-44 lock switch. He has designed a harness that will electrically engage the clutch in the transfer case until you turn the switch off. I've been running his switch for about a week now and with it on the front wheels bind and grab just like a true 4x4 should. It's pretty impressive how hard that clutch in the 44-44 actually holds.

I'm surprised lawyers haven't started a class action lawsuit for false advertising / misrepresentation

Seems like they have better things to pursue like spontaneous ecodiesel fires that they're not rectifying. Lol

If they haven't addressed the cam/lifter failures and broken exhaust bolts yet I highly doubt they'll do anything about this....

Hemi395,

So tell me about this "switch" mod.. Was it easy to install, and cost? I'm wondering if it places extra stress on the clutches to keep it all locked in. Thanks in advance - Scott

Brandon beat me to it lol

It's basically plug and play and then run the switch wherever you want to. Hardest part is finding a spot you like for the switch[emoji106]

I just got back from hunting with my 2013 1500 Laramie and i have only owned this truck for 2 months and it has 75xxx miles on it. On my trip home i needed to use 4low to clime a hill that was semi rocky and hard pack also just needed the 4low to clime the hill with the trailer about 2/3 into the clime i heard a popping noise similar to a c/v axle click but a more harsh. Has anyone had issues with the transfer case breaking the 4 low side? In 2 Hi no noise from front end or weird stuff. havent put back into 4hi or low since incident still need to unload trailer and hunting items.

Sorry for the terrible grammar I have wrote this post 3 times now and its staying as is.

Thanks

Sounds like you have a stretched t case chain. This would be more pronounced in 4lo due to the torque multiplication. When I worked in the shop we'd test the 4x4 by holding the brakes in 4hi and loading it up with the gas and brake then dump the brake and put your foot full in it. It it starts popping and hammering its 100% a chain.
