I've seen a few posts on 5th gen rear bumper(s) on 4th gens. We know the 2500 bumpers should work but I never saw a definitive answer about the 1500 bumpers. I got curious so I took a shot in the dark, ordered a 5th gen 1500 bumper and took on the task of making it fit. Long story short, it will work but there is some slight modification need as to be expected. But BAM, here's a better look at my paint to match 5th gen rear bumper! Hope y'all enjoy!!PXL_20211031_204636029.PORTRAIT~2.jpgPXL_20211031_204612516.PORTRAIT~2.jpgPXL_20211031_204621325.PORTRAIT~2.jpgPXL_20211028_041400070.NIGHT.jpg

I’d love a write up. The 5th gen aftermarket bumpers look a lot nicer than 4th gen and would negate me having to build my own rear bumper.

Do you want a write up of a oem 5th gen boer swap or an aftermarket off-road bumper? Cause idk if the same process applies for anything outside of OEM since I'm sure brackets would be included that strengthen the frame

Most aftermarket bumpers just use stock mounting points unless you are going into the really high end off-road bumpers.

I can do a write up once my truck is back from getting headers done early next week. Hopefully it'll help you with your aftermarket bumper. Good news is the oem can be bolted on

Can I get your write up about the bumper swap? I want to put duals on my 17 2500 and want the bumper to accept the pipes, thanks!

I just figured that because the 5th Gen Ram beds are about 2" higher than the 4th Gen bed
That they had to drop the tailgate hinge
So the rear bumper had to be changed
But there must be a better explanation

Maybe the MFT is fatter than a regular tailgate ?

Come on tacobender24
Did the mounting brackets have to modified ?
Did the hinges need modification ?
Did sheet metal need to be removed or reshaped ?

Yes I will do a write up soon. I've been busy with work and just got my truck back from getting long tubes put on. I'll get some pics of my bumper and some other pics of the frame without a bumper on since I really dont want to take off mine
Nice upgrade... Looks awesome with the whole blackout thing that truck has going on too...
Thanks man I appreciate it! I wanted to stand out from the rest of the 4th gen 1500s

I will do a write up don't worry! I will share this much before the write up, no extreme modification need to be made on the frame (welding, cutting), nothing on the body and nothing on the tailgate

I just noticed about the LED license plate lights. Are those not connected?

Well, i have only been coming in here for a year & i have no clue where the heck the DIY section would be hidden.

The way this forum is set up, i can't find most of the sub sections
They should all be listed somewhere

Buying a chrome 2021 rear bumper that is brand new from an individual this week for 250 dollars. Has cutouts for exhaust and sensors! Looking forward to using this write up to put it on my 2011 ram!
