Has anyone swapped front and rear hubs/axles to be able to use 5th Gen wheels? I'd like to switch over to 6 lug wheels and not have to use spacers.

Just check if the front has the same part # for the spindles and same for the rear. if it matches gen 4s I dont see why it wouldn't work.

Maybee where the wheel speed sensor is might be different. IDK

You sir are a genius

just checked part number 68329806AA for front right knuckle is listed for both 2011-2018 and 2019+ trucks.
However there is a second part number 2019+ trucks.

In visually looking at the difference in the knuckles (2020+ only part number), it looks like the 2020+ hub should bolt to the 2018- trucks but not the other way around.

Enough for me to buy one from amazon and test! Can return worst case.

Thanks again!

And no-one makes lightweight wheels in 5x5.5 but they're basically everywhere in 6x5.5. I have my eyse on some Falcon wheels, T2 or T7

Honestly I was only looking for OEM RAM wheels.

I wanted a cheap way to get new tires (even if they were crappy OEM tires...I drive very very little), and there are LOTS of 6-lug takeoffs around here for some reason.

For the cost of having to swap front hubs and rear axles (~$800) you’ll be better off just buying tires.

I’m still debating just drilling mine to 5x5 vs switching to 6x5.5 due to cost.
For me I‘m bored of my wheels and want to switch to lighter 17” wheels and nobody makes any.

If you’re just trying to get cheap tires, you could buy a set of take offs in the same diameter, pay discount tire to swap the tires onto your wheels and sell the 6 lug whels. You’ll probably make 80% of your money back.

There is a heavy duty front version for the trucks with the factory 22” wheels I think. They actually beefed it up for those but those parts don’t fit the non 22” wheel version. Saw that somewhere on Facebook? So not 100% sure if it’s correct

I know the Chevy 16-18 6 lug hubs will fit the fronts with minor modifications. Not sure if it was 5th gen ram hats or Chevy/gm hats the guy used that I saw do a 6 lug conversion though

I’m going to see what it takes to go to 6x5.5 or just redrill to 5x5. For me whichever is cheaper is the way I’ll go as the wheels I want are available in both.

Did you ever test the 6 lug hubs on your truck?

I wonder what it would take to get the 6 lug rear axle shafts into our trucks. The center carrier is the same so the shafts should slide in but the brakes are slightly different. Wonder if we would just need the complete 5th gen rear brake assembly

Probably. I’m most like going to end up redrilling my stuf to 5x5… the rear axles make it cost prohibitive to got to 6 lug even if the from hubs bolt up.

Update on my side I ended up finding some 5x5.5 17x9 wheels that only weigh 21lbs, so I didn’t go down the redrilling or hub swap route.

Do you have the link of the spacers that convert the 5 lug to 6 lug?
