5th Gen Tailgate Removal

Anyone out there have occasion to remove the tailgate off a 5th Gen RAM 1500 BigHorn? I think I read somewhere that you have to be careful when attempting to remove the tailgate due to the assisted lift piston that is located inside the left taillight assembly. I want to remove it in order to get a better idea on how to position a tailgate light bar. Anyone out there with directions to a video, or just a few instructions would be a great help.

Just curious did you take it off? I haven't pulled mine off yet.

If its like Ford the tailgate assist is in the Pivot, removing the tail gate isn't going to affect that, its meant to be removed if need be, make sure you unplug the Camera wiring harness first.

I did it, and it was a little tricky. It doesn't want to release from the left side at first. It is under tension. Had to lift up to nearly closed position IIRC. Easier with two people.
