Not that I have any plans to get one but just curious. My 2018 2500 has a bedliner that has 3 squares in it where I assume you would cut the squares if you had the 5th wheel hitch. When I stepped on mine it felt like there was a hole or pocket there. My window sticker doesn't say anything about 5th wheel.

Go underneath the bed and check would be the quickest way to see if you have anything there or not. Short of pulling out the plastic bedliner.

You would be able to see the brackets for a 5th wheel hitch there or it would have the puck system style 5th wheel hitch. You would see the puck system installed.

I'll take a look. Like I said I have no plans of ever pulling a 5th wheel but when I stepped on that spot I started wondering

If you had the factory fifth wheel prep, you would have 5 holes in the bed (w/cover plates) and there would be a 7 pin plug on the inside of the bed(left sidewall). It's a neat set up with how the hitch locks into the bed.

The towing package should have four round plastic covers, not three. The fifth wheel and set up uses a four point mounting system for a fifth wheel hitch. There would be a rather heavy steel plate just under the bed for this. It also would have a cover for the goose neck mounting as well. Plus there would be an extra round 7 pin connector in the side of the bed too.

That's why I asked. Mine has a bedliner so I can't see any of that or the 7 pin plug. But when I stepped on the round 'pockets' in the bedliner they sunk down slightly like there were holes there. I don't see anything on my window sticker about it though.

Pics of these "pockets" you mention?
Not really 'pockets' but places to cut the bedliner if you have the 5th wheel setup. They are just round raised (the center one is square) pieces in the bedliner. But when I stepped on them they felt like they pushed down lower than anywhere else.

Yeah, the new 5th wheel hitch setup is much nicer than the old days of having the rails permanently mounted in the bed. I had pieces of gravel and bark dust under my old rails that were never coming out unless the rails did first. Modern hitch just has one hole in the center of the bed.

Crawled under my truck and no steel plate. Where the flat part of the bed is where the 5th wheel would mount they are flat from underneath so I'm gonna say it is not set up from the factory.

I bought a 3500 with a fifthwheel package and it didn't have the brake box, what gives with RAM? The dealership wants another 500+ for the brake box. Whoever herd of a tow package without the brake box. My trade in Ram had the brake box without the fifthwheel package.

Here is a picture of my bed. Has a spray in bedliner, but there are 5 flat spots on the bed. I would bet those line up with the squares in your drop in liner, which would have a noticeable drop when you step on them.

Also if yours had a package installed, after seeing all the cutouts in the box liner already, they would have placed an access hole in it for the 7-pin box mounted plug in.

My '12 has the brake controller, but no 5th wheel hitch locations in the bed ribs. I did the B&W below bed gooseneck and just installed the box mounted 7-pin plug in. No wiring, just unplug and plug in the pig tail and drill a hole in the box side. Easy peasy... :)
