Step-son bought a new 3250BH this spring. I towed it home 100 miles when he bought it. It weighed 9300lbs with a full 52 gallon fresh water tank and had 1100lbs tongue weight.

This is my sons 2670MK with his 2018 2500 6.4 but it was loaded up pretty heavy:

6.2 diesel??? Cummins is the 6.7L. A Grand Design 22MLE's dry weight is less than 5200lbs...and it's GRVW is 6995lbs. 8700lbs. loaded? Are you sure? You're 1700lbs. overloaded on you trailer...

Smart move on going to a 2500 to pull the 5th wheel. Your 1500 isn't optimal for towing a 5'ver. Regardless if your 5th wheel is half-ton towable....it's really not. Your pin weight of your 5th wheel and your 5th wheel hitch just ate up all your payload...
Sorry guys I was in a whirlwind the day I posted my topic. Yes the 2500 has the 6.7 Cummins! It’s a beast! Very tall too. On a side note there’s been much conversation about the height of the side walls on the new model Ram 2500&3500. This is causing issues with 5th wheelers. Here’s what I’ve been thru;
My 2500 is 58 inches from ground to top of bed rail(tonneau roof rail line included). The min clearance for lower edge of 5th wheel overhand over bed is 5-6 inches. I have a Curt A16k hitch. This has three height adjustments on it and was on middle position on my 1500 and was told by hitch installers he’s recommended top hole. He installed the hitch without benefit of trailer being there snd when I went to hook it up the bottom edge of trailer was 8 inches over side rail of bed. The trailer is now too high in front and that’s not correct cause it puts too much weight on the back axle instead of displacement evenly. After talking yo hitch guy he’s comfortable lowering back to center hitch bolt position. I’ll need to be very careful of deep dips or peaks in road for awhile to be sure I don’t damage the truck/trailer. Grand Design forums have talked about clearances but it seems my original worries were not on well founded. Learning curve continues….
