I dont currently have a Ram truck i drive an 04 half ton silverado and love the truck but might be time to move on in the near future. It is only an extended cab and i have an 18 month old who takes up alot of space and possibly another child on the way and the dodges have the most space in a crew cab.

I came across a 3/4 ton with the 6.4 hemi in it (with 62k on the clock for $30k) and would like to know what i am getting into with it. What kind of longevity do these motors give obviously if it has 62k on it i want to know its going to last me a good while longer. I know gas mileage sucks but i dont care really i get about 10 out of my silverado now (has 33s on it). Only real reason i am looking at a 3/4 ton is because i will need to plow during the winter and very occasionally tow a 6ton dump trailer.

Thanks for the input heres a link to the truck if any cares to look.

Nice truck. In case you didnt know the warranty on 2016 models went from 100000 powertrain to 60000 powertrain. Unless its certified and then I believe you still get the longer one. Just something to keep in mind as these things aren't cheap to repair.

Looks good, just make sure all of the recalls are done especially the transmission solenoid valve one.

You can check here.

Mopar Recall Info

Most of the issues on the 6.4L from lifter failure were worked out by 2016 so you should be good.

If you don't need the navigation and the nice center console you could get basically the same truck in a tradesman for like 34k brand new and then you got a full warranty

Everything appears to have been taken care of thanks for that insight.

Interesting since this truck appears to be traded in with a little over 60k wonder if there was a reason behind that or the owner didnt want a truck without a warranty maybe.

I love my truck but honestly I'd skip on the interior goodies and get a 2019 with the 8speed. I'm seeing claims of way more usable power and better fuel mileage. I love the updated look to .

Looking at the car fax it has had damage. That’s not usually a huge deal. But with black I’d check it good and make sure everything lines up nice.

Overall it looks to be well kept. It is optioned well and other than the damage report it looks like it would be a good purchase. The damage should be fairly easy to find out what was done.

The other thing I see. 2 “transmission checks” 56,923 and 56,954 then they decided to sell it 5k miles later. Could be now issue there. I over read these things haha

I traded my 14 6.4 mega big horn with 60k last March. Their was no problems with it.. ran great... I just happened to be at a dealer and they said “ you thinking of trading” ..to which I replied “ depends.. what are you going to give me?”... 15 minutes later... “we will give you 33k... “ .. then I said “ I’ll be right back with my wife to pick out a new truck” .. my best guess is maybe they thought it was a diesel. They sent it straight to auction cause I never saw it on the lot and it’s not around town.
