Hey everyone, my old 5.7 decided to crap its self. I have a 6.4l challanger engine coming in. I'll share pics, progress and hiccups as I do it.

So far I've ordered the engine: 68303090AA
- new truck oil pan
- new truck oil pickup
- used timing cover (6.4l requires accessory kit)
- waterpump
- new timing cover/intake/exhaust gaskets

I'll be reusing the intake, crank pulley and the 5.7 headers.

Most of this stuff isnt required for the swap but I want to leave my 5.7 intact as much as possible for rebuild later down the road.

Figured I'd share this as I'm pretty excited to start. [emoji16]

Cool - what are you putting it into? 1500 or 2500 truck?

Is the Challenger engine not a HD engine?

My understanding is that the 6.4l truck engine has some different parts e.g. cam shaft.

Yeah the challanger Srt engine does not have MDS and it has a different cam. The 6.4 truck is 435 hp the srt 6.4l is 485 and no cylinder shutoff garbage. [emoji846]

Did you order a new crate engine or a low mileage engine from a wreck?

FUUUNNN!!!

I'm looking forward to you having a thread about this. I.e YOU BETTER START A THREAD ABOUT THIS! Lol.

What kind of goals do you have in mind? Jusy a usable daily? Race truck? Or just a street hooligan type of deal?

I would love to see a nice sized cam in there. Those 6.4l STY engines just sound so gnarly with a fat cam

I will definately do a thread on what I did and what had to be modded etc. I'm looking for a healthy 550-580hp 600max nothing too crazy as I still tow and it's my daily. I may throw a 50 shot of Nitrous on just for when I feel like making someone say what the hell was that every once and awhyle.

I won't be doing a cam yet... Maybe down the road but for now I'm kinda on a budget as it wasn't expected and I hadn't saved a dime for this project. Sponsored by mastercard [emoji23][emoji388]
I've got the fast truck already I don't need two racetrucks or that's what I keep telling myself

Is this a direct swap? Just change the 5.7 parts onto the 6.4?
