It would drip down and then drip off the bottom of the oil filter cooler. I snugged it up (it was loose and turned a turn or so before snugging up and this was at literally 500 miles or less when I noticed it) and it stop dripping but I have always wondered what these hex plugs are for are they just passages that were drilled for engine assembly that serve no purpose or do they serve an actually purpose.

I thought some of the engine pros would know. I will wait until tomorrow to reveal what they are in case someone chimes in with the answer.

Look like plugs for an oil cooler or to relocate the oil filter

Apparently they have a ball bearing and spring to control oil pressure. Mine was leaking from the bottom one (brand new probably less than 500 miles when I noticed it) which is what got me curious when I read about another new one doing the same thing.

So is that what they are for is an oil cooler?

So you just crank the thing tight then?
I just snugged it down and it stopped leaking. I did not crank it tight per se. apparently it is just a pipe plug. mine has not leaked in the last 6500 miles.
