Looking at getting a 6 inch lift on my truck. I am also wanting to get 17 inch wheels (instead of the more common 20 inch). Going to run a 35x12.50 tire.

At Rough Country it says 20 inch only. At BDS and Zone, they actually state 17, 18, and 20 inch will fit. That leads me to believe those wheels will fit the Rough Country kit, too. I'm not decided on what kit to get yet but have any guys with a lift run 17 inch wheels?

Looking at the knuckles in these kits they are all basically identical. Same with tie rods. I'm looking at a wheel that matches what BDS says: 17x9, -12mm offset, 4.5 inch backspacing.

Wheel fitments

Rough Country (Doesn't even take the time to write wheel specs in general)

Requires 20" or larger wheels! Does NOT fit 18" or smaller wheels.

I'm going to say that they are probably incorrect?

BDS

37" x 12.50" w/17 x 9 and 4-1/2" back spacing
37" x 12.50" w/18 or 20 x 9 and 5" back spacing

Zone Offroad (same thing, basically)

Wheel Size: 17 x 9
Back Spacing: 4.5″
Max Tire Size: 37x12.50

Wheel Size: 18x9
Back Spacing: 5″
Max Tire Size: 37x12.50

Wheel Size: 20x9
Back Spacing: 5″
Max Tire Size: 37x12.50

I’m not an expert. But I tend to think it would make sense if a 20 fits then a 17 will. Maybe they meant stock 17 on stock size tires. While 17’s on 37’s would be good

I think my confusion stems from the fact Rough Country would offer a blanket statement and no wheel specs. That probably confused me. Once I started looking at lift recommendations I checked out BDS and Zone and then they actually are explicit with fitment. Good on them. I mean technically, with proper offset and backspacing a 17 and 18 should fit.

My installer originally ordered me a rough country kit and neither them nor I saw the 20" wheel note online but after they unboxed it and got into the directions they saw it. They immediately called rough country and gave them my specs on my wheels and they said that the knuckles would not clear on an 18" wheel. So that was straight from RC saying it wouldn't fit. I don't see why they would design it in a way that limits it to 20+" wheels. I for one didn't want to try it and waste mine or my shops time so I went Zone and I'm thoroughly pleased I did.

Imo , I'd get the kit that allows a 17" wheel because the smaller wheel has advantages over the 20" wheels , and looks better to boot ...Imo [emoji1303][emoji1303]

My Zone 6" lift with 37x12.5r17
Rims are 17x8.5 with 0 offset. Should fit fine with 4.5 back space I believe mine are 4.75bs. If wanting to run factory rims in any size need spacers due to the positive offset. Proper offset and backspace is a must to clear.

Your truck is making me want to ditch my 18s for 17s , that looks damn good! That one less of an inch makes a big difference.

I've only got the 4" lift from Rough Country, but run 17's and 18's with no problems.

What backspacing and offset do your wheels have? Got a link or measurements?

I got in touch with RC today and they admitted that 17's can fit despite what the website says. As long as they are the right spec you're good. So that's the truth about RC.

Now if I could just get more guys to post pics with 17's...

Check this website out. Customwheeloffsets.com They should give you some good info as to what dodges would look like with a 6 inch and 17 inch wheels

Kinda weird they tell customers different information. They literally told my guys outright no 18 would fit. What's the spec? Zone and BDS put it right out there what dia and backspace you need. A little lame RC has customers playing guessing games on what can fit. No biggie, I'm super glad I did my zone 6/5

The spec is the same as BDS or Zone have listed. Does seem kind of weird that they don't just come out and say it. But, that's why we have BDS and Zone instead. It's good to have choices.

Sorry that's the only pic I have on this phone, and don't have the 17's on at the moment.
Truck looks great! I have a regular cab too but in white. Seems like we might be inverted twins soon. 6 inch kit and steel 17's going on this week.

Most people myself included don't want to find out after the truck was done and they go to put the wheels on and they dont fit. Leaving it stuck on your shops lift until you get new wheels. Hopefully they'll correct their website and include the fitment of the other size wheels. Definitely helps your customer choose your kit when they can get a warm and fuzzy their wheel size will definitely fit

Nice, love me some regular cabs! My next truck will be white too I think. Be sure and post up some pics!
