I have a 2005 Ram 4x4 2500 6 speed . I bought a year ago and don't know how to identify which transmission I have . On the driver side of it at the top looks like NG but stamped with a dot between the NG . N.G
22727
4231 NF 2 so this is how it's stamped . Any help would be appreciated . Thanks

Is your Ram 2500 a 5.9 Cummins truck? Either way there were two different 6-speed manual transmissions available for your year model and engine. If you have a gas powered truck, I.E. "5.7 HEMI" then you have sales code DEG for the Getrag G56 6-speed manual. Now, if you have a diesel equipped truck I.E. "5.9 Cummins" then you could have either the New Venture NV5600 which is sales code DEE or the Getrag G56 sales code DEG. With the diesel it all depends on how the truck was ordered. Most of the 2005 MY trucks that I see that are equipped with a diesel have the NV5600 but there are some Cummins trucks in 2005 that were ordered with the Getrag G56.

Now, I said all that just to provide some information. Based on the info you provide about the serial numbers on your transmission you have the NV5600. I know the N.G 22727 by heart and it is the New Venture NV5600. This transmission requires a special lubricant when service is required. The Mopar part number for the fluid is 4874464AC.

Sorry I didn't see your reply. Yes, the Royal Purple will be okay. I have used it in several trucks over the years and this fluid has been just fine.
