So I checked under the hood after the new 'knocking sound" on my truck. The passenger side heat shield from the exhaust manifold is loose enough i can grab and push the rear portion away from and back towards the engine...

Ofcourse the warranty for the powertrain is 60,000m/5 yr and my truck has 60,750!

Any one have any idea if the dealers would still take care of it?

Or am i pretty much going to have to go get a welder now

Yeah thats what IM NOT trying to do lol
just talked to one of them earlier, they said they (depending on the manager...) can do what they call "good will warranty" since im just over the mileage if it is a warranty thing...
so we will see at this point

I have had mine done twice. Dealer told me that it's on dealers to do list now every 70-80 thousand miles. My truck has lifetime warranty so all I pay is 100$. Total for one side was 653$

Find another dealer. This should be covered under teh Emission waranty. on my 2014 it was 10 yr/100k miles.

have to look it up for my 2022.

EDIT:
Just looked it up.
8 yrs or 80K milels. Your truck is leaking exhaust, directly into teh atmosphere, before it hit s the catalytic convertor. That is a huge no no and warranty shoudl cover it.

Call the Idiot dealer and remind them of this.
Then, wait for teh oh yeah, i forgot about that. it;s covered.

Just looked at the manual. The 8yr/80k for emissions says
“If your vehicle has one of the following parts, this Federal Emission Warranty covers for a period of 8y/80k….
-catalytic converter
-powertrain control module “

The 2y/24k covers the rest including exhaust manifold…

My 2014 was out of warranty. The dealer got it covered with the California emissions law. 90k was the cut off they told me.

I just did my passenger side manifold the other day, it's a shockingly easy job. I lucked out in that mine broke flush to the manifold so it came out without a welder, but even so that wouldn't be bad.

At 74K miles it was already done once before I got it at 30k. Hopefully I won't have to revisit it again, I milled the manifold flat while it was apart.

Ask the dealer maybe they'll do you a good one since you're only 750 miles past the 60k mark.
I bought my truck used from Carmax with 30k miles and the passenger side manifold was leaking literally 2 days after i bought the truck so i used their 30 days warranty to get it fixed. during that process a few studs broke while they were taking them out and somehow the mechanic managed to mess up the head on that side lol, so they paid for a new head as well, no questions asked, and it was Mopar because they show me stickers and parts. 127k miles as of today and not a single issue knocking on wood....

I have had to have both sides done. I actually pad for a good local independent shop to do the work because both times the Ram dealership wouldnt look at it for weeks…worthless.

I just called a local Ram dealer about my 2016 1500 that just started leaking. His response to whether the repair is covered under the emission warranty was "absolutely". I had talked to another closer dealer that has given me excellent service in the past. They told me not covered.

Thanks gofishn :waytogo:

Depends on what kind of relationship you have established with the dealer. If you only bring it back to them for a warranty problem, or are grumpy or ***** at them, they may not feel so obliged. If you've blasted them on the internet, don't even bother.

Service managers do have some good will power and funding for these types of events.

I have a 2019, Just had the right side replaced under warranty. I have the factory extended warranty that I had purchase because of all the electronic toys built into this thing. If it happens again it will cost me a Ben Franklin. It is now out of factory warranty due to the mileage.
