I have a 2015 ,,many EGR and DEF issues,,,numerous dealers as I was traveling,,pulled into dealer in Texas, they told me I needed to run it on highway to clean out the filter,, I said how long ? seeing how the day before I arrived from Wyoming to Houston,,Then I was in Terilingua near Mexico with the rv,,and truck says it will go into limp mode,,,EGR was covered under warranty early on,,but due to a small miracle, after the warranty was up,,all that stuff just fell off the truck ,,just drove from Chattanooga to Maggie Valley,NC through the small Smoky Mountains,,21 MPG ,, and the common rail does not smoke like the previous,

Thankfully, my only diesel is a tractor with no DEF or regen.

We have 4 diesels, but the Ram is the only one with DEF. Wish the others used it too. I'm not a big fan of diesel smell/fumes, and the DEF does away with that. Wife asked if we could retrofit it to her John Deere tractor.

No one gets sicker from diesel exhaust as I do. So far I haven't had an issue, but I generally don't sit for long on the machine with it idling.

Based on others I know, you might be glad you don't have it.
