8.4" Radio Upgrade Long HVAC Harness install Picture heavy.
I completed the RA4 8.4NA Radio upgrade from the RA1 a while back , originally I used a short conversion harness I purchased from getupkid.
I wasn't well versed in the upgrade at the time and shortly after I completed the complete install I learned of the Long harness & the factory hvac module Location , every since I've wanted to mount the hvac module in its proper location .
The short harness limits you to basically laying it on the plastic shelf behind the bezel and just below the radio , this rattles when turning quickly or going over rough terrain. I wrapped mine in large rubber bands. This fixed the rattle issue but I still wanted to install it in its factory location .
There's nothing wrong with the short conversion harness I purchased from getupkid, it's worked for me for a year or so .
I got my hands on a long conversion harness from a member here Mpgrimm2 / M2mods that was very nicely made . Lots of attention to detail with the harness. Wrapped in a slick braided sleeving and heat shrinked on the ends, different color wires and all the wires individually marked with numbers , and obviously the proper oem type connectors on the ends .
To say the least , I'm very impressed with their harness .

Perfect length for the install.

Step # 1 disconnect the Neg lead from the battery . 10 mm .

Next remove 2ea screws here T20 bit.

Now take a firm grip here and pull straight back to relieve all the push clips.
You may want to use two hands .

With the short harness , this is my hvac module wrapped in large rubber bands.

Notice the giant difference in the harnesses.

This is the factory location (all this info can be found in the beginning posts here )
1st pic is the two key slotted holes for the install of the module, 2nd pic is the module installed .

And this is how I routed the harness.

Plug everything back up.

Reconnect the battery and test every function of the HVAC and everything else that you had disconnected for the install .

Hope this helps someone in the future when they install the Long HVAC conversion harness to facilitate mounting the HVAC module in its factory locating
