8.4 Uconnect am/fm radio antenna.

Has anyone had to replace the am/fm radio antenna due to it breaking off inside the fender. It needs the whole thing due to breaking off at where the antenna part screws into the base inside the fender. I called the dealership and they told me they couldn't find anything in their book and quoted me "about" $250-$350. It seems a bit excessive. I use to install stereos back in the day (35 years ago) for myself and friends but times and vehicles have changed. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have a 2018 Ram 1500 Texas edition.

I live in SoCal... So I couldn't even drive 5 miles without my station of choice turning into a Mariachi band... I trimmed it down to about 5 inches, and never listened to terrestrial radio again.

Sorry...just realized I had nothing to add, except my antenna was useless when it was working.

I am assuming it broke off by some means other than what would be covered by warranty? I had an errant football take one off a vehicle once.... If it broke the base unit and not just the antenna, you could probably do something like the options below, but it might require running a new RF cable to the back of the radio. I guess you could install a male/female BNC connector down inside the fender to splice the existing cable to the new one, but you'll lose a dB or so of sensitivity. Good luck!
