Happy new year all!

Been spending the holidays working, and enjoying my new 2018 RAM 2500! I don’t have the whole infotainment system figured out as of yet (came from a 2001 2500, so a big step for me).

I do have a question regarding the USB inputs. Is there a way to leave the iPod I have plugged into the USB port, and not have to re plug it in for the radio to recognize it every ignition cycle? I have to re plug it in every time for it to recognize it. I have also not tried a simple USB thumb drive, but I’m assuming it would behave the same.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your new 2500. I have a thumb drive with over 1000 songs connected to my usb port and it is ready to play every time I start he truck. There is a setting on a uconnect screen somewhere that says something about "start playing as soon as usb is selected" or something like that. It's one of those things you set once and forget about.

Others might want to know more information about the ipod... ios version, ipod model, etc. From what I've seen from other ucoonect owners with Challengers and Chargers, it might be an ipod issue not a uconnect issue.

I use a USB stick as well. It works every time I power up the truck with no issues.

I tried using another music player but once it was powered down, the head unit never recognized it until I powered it up and pulled, then reinserted, the connector to the hub.

I did the iPod thing for a minute until I realized I get better performance and sound from a USB stick, or an SD Card

Thanks for the replies!

I fooled around with it, and since its been so terribly cold here, ive been using the remote start feature. It wont recognize it if I use the remote start, but it will if I get in the truck, and use the push to start button slowly. If I grab the door handle, jump in, foot on brake and press the button quickly, it wont recognize it. If i get in, let the uconnect power up, and then start the truck, it will work.

Hmmm. Guess I have to change my method of starting the truck up!
