8 speed in line thermostat and engine oil filter relocation

My '15 did not have the heater either. I've been really impressed with the IR parts, although I didn't want to hit them with the grinder so they're stock.
They definitely did not need the grinder as much as the transdapt parts did. I just don’t like sharp curves and hard corners. Creates a restriction to the oil flow. I’m just smoothing it all out.

Does the cooler tie into the thermostat housing Khris,if so,i'd look at replacing it with the earlier thermostat housing,as it only has one rad hose outlet
The hose to the right of the thermostat housing goes to the oil heat exchanger and returns into the line exiting the radiator.

All parts are in and ready. Need some aluminum plate for my mount but that’s an easy run to the hardware store. Weather is spectacular. I’m looking into ordering an aluminum transmission pan to do at the same time possibly. Either the hellraiser pan or the ppe pan. I’m not super worried about 2qts extra oil capacity so I’ll call hellraiser for a price on their pan and just go with the cheaper pan and order a few extra filters. Need to order fluid. How much is needed for a drain and fill? Need to pick up another quart of 8 speed fluid for the thermostat install at least.

Looks like a new lower rad hose and thermostat housing from an earlier truck would get rid of alot of leak points and delete the oil cooler assembly.

I’ll have to look into that eventually. For now it’ll get a brass plug.

Did you use the stock transmission cooler in the top of the condensor or a stand alone /seperate transmission cooler emjohn4
I'm using the stock transmission cooler in the top of the condenser.

LOL well we're not that warm Khris,we have whats called a "Chinook" up here,so we've warmed alot from last week,it's about 38 on my thermometer this morning ,and should be in the low 40's later today.Warm enough to turn our side streets into slush pits,but the forecast looks to be good all this week. :waytogo: :cheers:

The service manual says 8.98 quarts for the 8HP75 with the following note:


♦ Dry fill capacity. Depending on type and size of internal cooler, length and inside diameter of cooler lines, or use of an auxiliary cooler, these figures may vary. Refer to the appropriate service information for the correct procedures.

Lines are ready to swap into the truck. Soon. Obviously I’m not good with timeframes as this has been at the bottom of my list for over a year. Going to mount up the thermostat in a permanent location and bend up some sheet aluminum for mounting and bracketry to brace the a lines. If anyone attempts this just have the ends welded on. It makes this so much nicer and easier to work with instead of flaring it.
