8 speed swap alpha obd

So I’m doing an 8 speed swap on my 2016 ram, as far as I know I don’t need the sga kit per Russell. Transmission, lines and shifter are already installed, what I THINK still needs completed is shifter wiring because my dash harness does not come with connector and reprogramming bcm. My question is do I have to use alpha to reprogram bcm or will Hptuners software work? I’m asking because I really do not want to buy another phone for the app

HP tuner is for doing the tuning of the engine and can do trans for an extra fee (2 credits) of $100 or so. AlfaOBD is for changing the factory program options in the various modules such as the BCM (and some troubleshooting of engine / transmission components and sensors.).

2 different things.

From your statement, I think you are using an iPhone now. I use my AlfaOBD with my win10 laptop. Works great. Any old android or windows phone / tablet will work. Don't even need cell service with it. I'm sure you know someone that uses windows / android that has an extra one kicking around that you can get or buy one for dirt money on the net.
