Several people have posted about the high rpm long shift first thing in the morning as the transmission is warming up. I have noticed if I sit parked with the truck running or turn the truck off and back on within a few minutes I get the same thing throughout the day. I get no lights or errors, just higher rpms and the different shift. I dont want to run to the dealership every time I notice something different so I wanted to see if anyone has an opinion as to whether is worth worrying about or not. I have had several Ram 1500's but this is my first 8 speed and i dont know what its normal is. If this behavior is normal thats fine, just need to know.

Thanks!

Its done the morning cold thing from day 1, but I just noticed the throughout the day. And only going from 1st to 2nd. It may do it again during the day or it may not.

Lifted, I actually thought that, and it’s what my wife said, so you pretty much double confirmed it. I really do appreciate it!

No problem I am glad you took it the right way. After reading it it sounded like I was being a jerk. I will tell you the 8 speed is a very strong trans. I have 23k on mine and I run the ever living crap out of mine. I am on the skinny pedal hard at every chance I get.

I do not notice anything other than it took it awhile to learn how I drive. first few thousand miles was goofy but now, it kjust plain rocks.

I traded in 2017 1500 with hemi for a 2019 classic. I loved the 2017, shifted quick and firm and truck just felt tight and strong. I hate the 2019, revs high before shifting, especially 1st into 2nd 6th and 7th into 8th. When shifting from 6th to 7th to 8th, truck is reving high, engine is roaring but just doesn't seem to have the power. Of course the dealerships says keep driving it, tranny is learning. What to do ??

Listen to your dealer. Just drive it and let the systems learn. It’s not just your personal driving quirks. It’s learning your primary terrain, city or highway, average speeds etc, etc. it takes a while. Part of it is you learning the truck as much as the truck learning you.
