Max life has been shown to be good in the zf8 and amsoil as well. Amsoil is all PAO. Another thats all PAO with a splash of ANs is HPL green cold climate ATF. Mobil 1 LV HP ATF looks to be a near perfect fit when compared to the lifeguard 8. It uses the same additive package as HPL but with GTL instead of PAO. Viscosity of the mobil 1 is only 0.1 cst off from lifeguard 8
I would assume group 3Do you know what MaxLife is made of?
I would assume group 3
I had found a thread on here, mightve been the same one. Guy running maxlife in 2 rams that are used for towing. Both has very high mileage with zero issuesThere have been several threads on here with members using Valvoline MaxLife in their ZF 8 speeds, and IIRC, all had great results.
You can get 1 gallon of MaxLife for about the same price as 1 quart the Mopar OE fluid, so definately a good value.
That said, if I had a warranty of any kind, I would be inclined to use only OE fluid and parts, so as to keep the warranty in effect. Pretty sure warranty would be voided once the red MaxLife fluid is seen, even though it seems to meet the spec of the ZF fluid.
One member in particular has 5 or 600k miles on his rig using the MaxLife. I am extremely tempted to give it a go on my next service.
Seeing any difference in trans temp?I have about 4500 miles on Max-life, 64000 on 2017 Ram 1500, so far couple 500 mile road trips and some daily driving, nothing stressful.
I went with PPE pan for a couple extra quarts of oil and perhaps better heat exchange.
No issues at all.
Well honestly having noticed any difference in anything, pressure, temp, it has been pretty cold here, going to be single digit highs this week.Seeing any difference in trans temp?
That's damn cold. Do you still have the thermostatic valve and warmer hooked up?Well honestly having noticed any difference in anything, pressure, temp, it has been pretty cold here, going to be single digit highs this week.
Same set up here. Zero issue, but I’m only at sbout 450mi and will drain and refill one more time. I have one of Caulk’s bypasses, just havent installed.I have about 4500 miles on Max-life, 64000 on 2017 Ram 1500, so far couple 500 mile road trips and some daily driving, nothing stressful.
