The truck was running with fuel spraying out a pin hole in the fuel line. I cut the bad section out and inserted a barbed couple and hose clamps. Engine won't fire now. I did not depressurize before cutting the line. Seems like I've got no pressure. Everything seemed fine before I cut the line... aside form the leaking fuel.

Might have to prime the pump a couple times. I would push in the schrader valve and then prime it a couple more times and try to start it

When I change a fuel pump out, I find it easier to pull the bed off and access it from the top, rather than dropping the tank, especially if it full of fuel.

Ya when I changed the pump in my 96 with a 5.2, I tried starting it about 6 or 7 seven times with No start. I was pissed and figured I diagnosed the problem wrong. Then the truck fired up after a few more cranks.

Its been several months, but from what I remember there were 6 bolts that are removed from underneath, used long extension and wobble socket for a couple of them. Disconnect the connectors for the taillights and pull the wiring out of the way, disconnect the license plate lights and remove the screws holding the gas fill nozzle to the bed and push the fill hose assembly out of the way. Also drop the spare tire, if you have one underneath. Takes two strong people to lift bed up and back out of the way. Don't have to take the bed completely off as you just need to move it up and back about 2 feet to gain plenty of room to access top of the fuel tank. We had to do this twice as my son purchased a cheap pump the first time from eBay and it lasted about 2 weeks. Bought one from Autozone the second time with a warranty and it has been good since (about 10 months now).
