Hey everyone, been on the forums for a while but its my first post.

To start off, I've had two rebuilt put in my truck already, last one was about three years ago. A while back my truck wasn't wanting to shift from 1st to 2nd, and was jumping from gear to gear wwhile driving. Had the shift sensors replaced, and the band was off of 2nd gear. They also did a fluid and fliter change.

Now the truck is not wanting to shift to 2nd gearwithout revving high in 1st, or having to let off the gas, and then it will ****. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on the current problem, I took it to a shop and they are saying its in need of a full rebuild, even though its just 2nd gear problem.

Any info would be great, just trying to get advice before i pay 1700 dollars hah.

Welcome to RF. Sounds like its a pressure problem or maybe the clutches in gear 2 are messed up. A complete overhaul would probably fix the issue unless it is the pump. If it is the pump then that would explain part of it. Not enough pressure to make it shift. Is the fluid still in good shape? Doesn't smell burnt or anything like that?? Is it at the right level??

Fluid and filter are good, changed them out about 6 months ago, still at good levels. I'll check out the pump, just didn't think it was the problem because its only a 2nd gear issue. I'll check and go from there. Thanks for the reply!

No problem! Gotta start somewhere. haha The other thing I would guess is the bands on gear 2 or the valve body has a blockage
