I'm having a shop install new ball joints on my 98 Ram 2500HD 4x4, 5.9 gas, 175k miles. Should I have the axle u-joints done at the same time, and also front bearings? First time into the front end on my truck, so, no experience on this. Thanks!

I would have the Knuckles checked, they don't usually wear out at that mileage but good to have a look and I would definitely have the bearings repacked unless you have had the rotors replaced in the last 50,000 miles, which should have resulted in a full bearing repack service at that time. You may want to look at replacing rotors while you have it that far apart. If you pull the axles make darn sure they put in NEW seals or you will get a leak for sure.

On a 24 year old truck I would have them replace everything while they are in there. If not you will likely be back doing it sooner then later. I went through this on my 06, should have just done it all at one time.
