I have a 2017 RAM 2500 with a Cummins engine. It has abbt 7500 miles on it but is over a year old. The last time we towed our fith wheel, the service elecronic brake system message came on and the ABS/Traction control light came on. Since, it does that periodically lately. without a trailer behind. I have goggled and see a variety of answers, but nothing consistent. First of all, does the ABS system disconnect in tow mode, when the trailer brake is hooked up? If so can that be the issue? I don't want to spend a lot of $ trouble shooting the issue on essentially a new truck, so is there something I can do to narrow the potential causes down? I have a scanner code reader if that will help. Thanks

Serena

Sounds like a speed sensor. ABS does not disconnect when trailer hooked up. You should still be under warranty??

Hi bluedevil8008,
We're glad that you're having your dealer look into this. Please send us a private message if you need any additional assistance during that process.

Just for a data point, I had the same problem with the same truck. Dealer did the same fix, and no more problems (at least so far). The only difference is I wasn't towing when it started.

Funny thing is my truck just started doing this and just out of warranty, took it to the dealership and the recommended the same fix. Unfortunately neither them or ram customer care will help with the fact the truck is just out of warranty. Kinda sucks
