2019 Rebel etorque. Have about 800 miles on it and 700 of it has been driving from Colorado to Texas. Getting a whopping 13mpg and no I am not towing anything. Varying the speed between 60 and 70.
13mpg far from the 22 mpg on the window sticker and I am concerned that something is wrong with the truck.
Any input if something is wrong?
Thanks in advanced.

I wish that I had something knowledgeable to tell you. I do not have eTorque but I am running 3.92 gears and expected to have poor gas mileage. I’m at about 7000 miles and am a averaging about 15mpg. I do a lot of local running paired with my Pedal Commander so that’s another factor against me getting more mpg.

I know my mpg has improved as I "break it in" with more mileage. I started around there about 13-14 and currently I'm sitting around 18-19 on the dash with plenty of city driving. Hope that gives you something to look forward to.

Ah that thing is a lie, they say on the stickers it's the same whether you have the air suspension or not, or whether you have the off-road package lift or not (someone correct me if I'm wrong?)

I've been getting 9-11mpg city (a lot of idling and short distance driving), and 16-18 hwy.

I'm pretty sure I saw the same mpg ratings on the window stickers of trucks with very different options.

I got 16 on my first tank. City/highway combined, on 87 octane .
Have gotten 18 to 18.4 on the next two tanks with 89 octane, same mix of driving.
This has been trying to keep my lead foot off the throttle.
I have about 1100 miles so far.
The octane rating does make a difference with both my trucks.
Give it some time. Should improve .

I am 4 miles shy of 12k. I average 19-20 running 89 octane mixed driving. I did a 1k round trip straight towing 5k lbs through the smokies avg 10.4 on 89.

I doubt the Rebel will ever get 22 mpg, the aerodynamics are not as good as the rest of the rams.

Also if you were fighting any fair headwind or worse yet a crosswind coming from the front corners, you can expect about 13-14 mpg.

My 1500 is very wind dependent on highway mpg.

Though it should improve a few mpg as it breaks in - which can be several thousand miles later.

we have a 2019 hemi with etorque .. at about 300 miles it got 17.2 combined driving with a lot of idling to set up the uconnect stuff .. filled the tank to be sure of mileage and with that now at 850 miles it figured to 22.5 combined driving and little idling ... we have the 3.92 rear .. very happy with this combo .. i did not think i would like the etorque BUT the way it is working out i am happy ... we left dodge 9 yrs ago when our 2005 hemi was getting 12 mpg on a good day with a tail wind and got into tundras that got 17mpg local .. looks like dodge finally got their act together

Do they use ethanol gas there? Ive found a few stations near me that use E15, the "standard" being E10, so its 5% more ethanol than the standard stuff. Ethanol will lower your mpg.

Ive also noticed worse mpg on 87 than 89, even though its supposedly a myth its always how its worked for my truck. Ive seen up to 16.5mpg city driving which isnt great but is still better than my old V6 truck. I have a '17 with the 3.21 gearing and would expect the mpg to go up slightly as the engine gets older.

I am not sure how you guys get 18 - 20 average. You are magicians. I am 1600 miles in. I have 3.92 gears. I drove extremely calm for the first month and the best I saw was 17.5 combined. I am a pretty even split of highway and city driving and my average bounces from 15.5 on the weekends to 16.8 during the work week. This is exactly what I expected anyway so I could care less. On a long road trip I am sure I could hit 18+ and that's fine too.

I just passed 6000 miles and did first oil change, and my mileage has crept up over 20 mpg now. What gears do you have? That makes a huge difference.

well my mpgs were calculated by taking the miles on the trip meter divided by the gals from the pump and btw this was using E15 88 octane ... when i towed my 3000# boat from lancaster, pa thru our little mountains to store the boat at the cabin for the winter, about 250 miles round trip, the mpg calculated manually to 15 mpg for that trip ... go figure ... i have checked the odometer roughly and all seems well there ... my tire pressure is set to 40#s

The recommended octane is 89 and 87 being acceptable. So your observation is no surprise. I just miss the days when all grades were separated by 10cents, and my leaded race fuel I thought was outrageous at $2.50 a gallon.

Yeah Im going back to 89 with my next tank. I know the switch over to winter gas has happened here too, and that tanks mpg all by itself. Hopefully 89 octane will bring some of it back. Ill also track the mpg difference to see if its really worth the extra cost since the price diff between 87 and 89 here is 20 cents or so per gallon.

Tires make a big difference in fuel economy as well. I would assume the window sticker fuel economy numbers are based on lower rolling resistance street tires, but I'm not sure on that. Put a wider, knobby tire on and rolling resistance goes WAY up.

I guess I don't get the 89 octane thing.. For you guys that run it, are you getting engine pinging that is prompting you to use 89? I know where I'm from, 89 octane is like $0.20/gal more per gallon than 87. The way I'm thinking it, even if you got 1mpg better with it, you're fuel cost is still higher than getting 1mpg less with 87.

I always run recommended octane in all my vehicles. I am fully aware of detonation and octane rating to match compression. I figure 89 was what the motor was engineered with so part of ownership. I know 87 is acceptable but I never know when I need to tow or haul a heavy load, so I want my motor running with fluids it’s spec’d for.

It’s not just for detonation, it’s also for optimal motor performance. My 2011 Taurus (NA 3.5) says min 87 but use higher octane for better performance. I can attest to the claim running tanks with 87,89, and 93 with a live data scanner showing big difference between 87 and 89. There was a marginal difference between 89 and 93, so I run 89. I haven’t had a chance to do the same with the Hemi.

Limited, e-torque, 4wd (running in 2wd), 3.92 gears, 500 miles of in town driving so far - 13.3 mpg average. o_O

I'm crossing my fingers hoping that the mpg improves....
