Accelerate on Cruise Control

For one with a 6-speed 5.7, when the truck on cruise control and either accelerate manually with +/- or the truck accelerate on its own uphill, does it downshift and then accelerate or acceleration and then downshift?

It will do automatically what it needs to try and maintain the set speed, going up or downhill. Sometimes it is easier to turn cruise off and take care of the increase and decrease in speed yourself.
