So, I got rear ended.... hard. My truck: 2015 2500 4X4. crew cab and long bed. bone stock.
Her car: 2006 BMW 328i

I was at a dead stop at a light and she rear ended me at about 50 MPH.

She hit me off center to the right. She went under my truck and her drivers side headlight made contact with my passenger side rear tire. My bumper went thru her windshield. The body damage does not appear to be too bad.
Here is the problem:
Once I drove it home (without issues), I smelled antifreeze and I observed oil. The oil is coming from somewhere either in front of or above my fan. I don't know where the coolant is coming from.
It is at the collision shop right now but, my concern is drivetrain damage and, more specifically, how to tell if it is damaged.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your truck. I would let the ins adjuster and body shop deal with this.

The adjuster has given me 5 grand for body damage and misc parts but, nothing addressed the engine. I am just afraid that, unless someone pulls everything apart, something could be missed.

Odd that you would have oil and antifreeze leaks at the front but I suppose at the force she hit you could have twisted and cracked your rad. I agree that you should point it out to the insurance adjuster and they can track it down. Did they check to make sure the frame was not bent?

First thing I thought was possible frame bent. You zero and her 50mph that’s quite an impact.

Man, OP, sorry to hear...you OK?

Second, do you know a good attorney? I know, I know, folks poo-poo lawyerin' up...until they need one! If you get nowhere with your insurance company, it's always nice to have counsel. One sternly worded letter from a law office can do what no amount of screaming from you or me will; just something to consider if I were you!

Here's hoping you and your truck make it out of this as quickly and painlessly as possible!

I was thinking,,, what would I do. I would tell the insurance carrier that I had no fluid leaks prior to this "not at fault" accident. The rear end collision clearly moved, tweaked, bent or damaged something that caused these leaks. Make me whole and fix my truck. You want your carrier to tell the repair shop,, locate the leaks and tell you and the insurance carrier what is leaking. And could it be accident related.

Your adjuster should meet with you and a body shop to inspect the truck and prepare an addendum to their original estimate to include repairs necessary to correct the leaks. Further, a more detailed inspection with the truck up on a lift to inspect the frame, powertrain alignment (that thing had to have moved to affect connects up front) and any other obvious damage.

I'll bet the adjustor didn't crawl under the truck or fully inspect it.

You can see where she hit my tire and bounced off. The broken windshield is a result of my bumper hitting it.IMG_0559_1.jpg

Yeah.. I wasn't going to get one at first but, with a constant headache, I figured I had better get one.

I am not specialist, but I would suffice it to say, that the impact that was done on that tire caused a shift to the rear axle, drive shaft, transmission, and engine (since they are all connected.) I would definitely have your shop and insurance adjuster take a look underneath. That is a MAJOR impact.

Glad you are OK, hopefully the truck isn't damaged too badly.

i wouldnt call this a major impact, none of the cars main structure actually hit your truck, the BMW hit just to the side of the impact strip and it looks like you just had tire to tire impact, not downplaying the wreck as im sure it jarred the crap out of you and your truck, your truck shouldnt have frame damage from that, ive been through bigger wrecks with no frame damage, it is possible that the jar from the impact knocked a connection lose or cracked a plastic fitting or something like that, you for sure need to look for the source of the leak and go from there for that, but as far as the axle moving enough to jam all the engine components, i really dont see that happening especially with it being a 4 linked rear end, if it hit hard enough for that kind of damage then the link bars would be bent noticeably.

I will add that i had a similar wreck except it was a big toyota SUV that hit me, it wiggled my crank sensor lose and i had an oil leak, i put a new seal on it and it was all good after that

What was she doing? Texting?
According to the witness, she was "weaving back and forth like she was texting".
She never even hit her brakes.
To add insult to injury, he insurance lapsed back in 2017.

My back hurt almost instantly and hasn't gotten much better.
I am on day 4 of a headache.

I hope you went to the ER. In 2004, my 2003 ram 2500 cumimins was totaled by a Subaru. Tboned me and bent the frame. Ended up with a nice concussion.

The more you share with us, the more pissed I get at "BMW text lady with no insurance" Only my POV. Get a bull dog attorney NOW. Just because her insurance was not in force,,,I suspect that she may have other assets. Respectfully, this is the kind of irresponsible behavior that people need to pay for.
