Shoot me a PM, we'll get you squared away. I do doubt that upgrading the firmware will cure your thermal issues but there are remedies for that as well...I hate to revive an old thread but I just got a 2019 uconnect for apple carplay I was getting the device not recognoized error when it is hot and took it to dodge here in canada to check for updates, I have nn-can-aso-8.4-jr-30.24.3-20191016-johq for my software and I can't use the files for uaq/uas that were posted. Dealer tells me that it is the most up to date software version and it is super annpyong that once it cools down it works fine. Can anyone verify if my dealer is full of **** and doesn't know how to get the update? I have not had good dealings with them but they are the only local dodge dealer I have to go to. Its a vp4 radio out of a 2019 that I put into my 2014 ram.

Looks like you have a VP4 unit and not a UAS/UAQ. I don't believe this unit would have CarPlay/Android Auto, but Sirius and Nav are likely.Anyone know what I should be trying to update this 8.4 to? got it for next to nothing and would like to set it up on my 2016 RAM 1500. Looks like it came out of a Chrysler has NAV and Sirius, CarPlay.
Weird, maybe there's something I don't know as I definitely am no expert on it. I would suggest starting here:It definitely has CarPlay because I see it and I am able to use it.
Carplay was available before they put it in Ram trucks in 2018. Don't remember what year it started with in other Chrysler vehicles, but definitely before 2018.Weird, maybe there's something I don't know as I definitely am no expert on it. I would suggest starting here:

DISCLAIMER: I am not a coder, developer, software guru, electrical engineer, etc. but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express once! Since some have had issues with the 4th Gen 8.4 conversion I am looking to gather some details into one thread. I will update as new information is found and posted...www.ramforum.com
I believe 2017 was the first model years for FCA to have this feature (so available in 2016)...Carplay was available before they put it in Ram trucks in 2018. Don't remember what year it started with in other Chrysler vehicles, but definitely before 2018.

I've been reading but it like Greek at this point. Not even sure what radio I have anymore. Had SAT radio at first and now that has disappeared. Even though it shows a subscription.
That because those are for the earlier 13-17 Harmon 3c RAx radios... vs your 2017.5/18 Panasonic 4c UAq Nav radio. Thanks Mike, I tried both of these files and received "no media found" on system
