I have a 10" drop aluminum Weigh-Safe hitch. It works good and is nice having the adjustability and 2 or 2 5/16 balls. The aluminum keeps the weight at least reasonable. A few comments:
- In hindsight I would consider just getting a couple different fixed dropped ball mounts. I've really only needed 2 different setups over the years. One is using all 10" of drop (lifted truck on 37's) with the 2" ball for smaller trailers or about 6" of drop with the 2 5/16 ball for larger trailers. Overall price would probably of been a little cheaper.
- There is some slop at every point of adjustment on the hitch. The ball mount platform that lets you adjust the height has some slop and the ball itself has some slop. This is the style where you pull a pin and replace the ball, versus just flipping it around or something.
- I would not want the style where the two size balls are mounted 180 degrees apart. The reason is that it would hang down a good bit more and would rub. I've rubbed the bottom of the shank several times (steep driveway approaches, etc...) and having the second ball underneath would cause it to hang down even further.
