Hi I'm thinking about buying this 2003 3500 cummins off a guy for 11k. My only problem is it has 240k miles and I'm worried about the tranny.he says the tranny has no slip and shifts very well but I really don't want to buy the truck for 11k and add tranny expenses because I just don't trust a dodge tranny that old. What do you guys think

Definitely a lot of miles on the trans. Would he be willing to let you take it to a shop and have the trans inspected before you buy it?

As long as its been maintained it should be okay. I used to maintain a guy's 2006 3500 with the 6 spd manual. It had 696k miles last time I saw it, in Feb 2012. He never had any issues with the trans, but he maintained it properly. The cummins 3500s will last forever with the right care. Maintenance is more expensive, but Ive never seen anything else last over 400k miles and be a reliable cross country driver, let alone daily driver. Have it checked out if you can, or drive it for as long as the guy will let you. That should tell you all you need to know.
