What Android apps are typically used on these guys that provide the integration with Uconnect and all the vehicle controls? I know there's also a Canbus interface adapter but I'm curious about the apps used.

It's typically a custom launcher interface (nothing you'll find in an app store).

Well hell, Ok so not readily possible to mimic one of those chinese android setups with a tablet yourself then.
You could actually. They are typically just apps and these android style headunits are Android tablets with bespoke molding to fit in specific vehicles.

I've tried searching for really any App that can interface with the Canbus adapter, most of those I've seen are from Simple Soft, but weeding through the bajillion ODB2 apps is touch stuff.

Not sure if this is the info you're looking for or not, but the canbus software in my unit is Simple-Soft

Not what I was asking for in here however, this is another bit of info I was looking for. Reading earlier on the XDA forums people reporting difference in available vehicular functions between the various canbus adapter/firmware mfgs.

Did you lose things like side mirrors tilting down in reverse, lighting, and key-off power delays, easy exit, etc?

I haven't lost anything that I've noticed. All of the original options are in the android unit, just have to scroll through "car settings" to find it.

I "think" I have the APK for the one used on T-Style radios years ago. I was modifying it to suit my needs and if I remember correctly it's the type of APK you are looking for. The app is called EventCenter.apk

I don't believe so but I also haave an Express truck so their weren't a bunch of features to begin with. I did spend A LOT of time helping others get theirs working though.

I have an aftermarket android auto headunit and all the extra settings are in one of the drop down menus in the head unit. I have physical controls for just about everything in my tradesman so I rarely access it. My truck has air suspension and I have accessed the settings for the suspension in the head unit.

I just installed an Amazon android/car play unit. They had to get with their developers to fix some things, others they kept stalling.
I’ve read several issues about these radios. You just have to work through them and find a solution. I’m still glad I bought it even though they couldn’t tell me how to keep my RAM backup camera. The one that came with it isn’t near as good. But the entire radio is bigger a very colorful with stuff the ram radio didn’t have.
I finally downloaded Agama Launcher. It swaps everything to English. I really like it. The problem is that when you go to pay the $5.45 it’s a Russian site so no banks allow this. They all block it. I’m going to Walmart later to get a cash card and try it that way.

The Russian developers are very big on these Android radios. You can find A LOT of information on their forums using Google translate.

I retained my factory backup camera, BUT the quality of the video isn't quite as good as the factory 8.4 screen.

I'm def going to make sure whichever one I get is a 4gig/32 (or 64) gig version. Not that I really care so much about the storage but more ram helps everything.

seems fishy

I am using a Linkswell unit and after it was installed I have my SOS rear view mirror, red light is flashing, while driving.I do not have a subscription so I don't care.I Have taped over it.I wouldn't know where to look for that fix.I also have an IGLA,so who knows. It does have something to do with the security system I read. Also fyi the 15.6 inch unit, you apparently lose voice commands.I never verified it but I dont use that, unless I trying to impress a passenger. So if I lost that it is okay.I don't know too many people

Voice commands will work via Android AUto and Carplay on those radios. The third party voice commands are much more versatile and accurate.
