Hi everyone,
I have been looking at backup camera systems for my 2016 express with basic stock radio. The Mopar kit has the replacement rear view mirror with 4.3" monitor plus the replacement tailgate handle with camera. Plus it includes all wiring for installation and instructions. To me the big prohibiting factor is the kit price of $500.00, then going to the dealer to have the BCM flashed with the sales code for another $50.00.
I have found a wireless backup camera systems by Auto-Vox (rvs-tw) for $140.00 on Amazon. The mirror/monitor straps onto the factory mirror and the camera is mounted with the license plate.
If anyone has suggestions for aftermarket backup camera systems that they have had experience with please let me know.

Thank you for your time

So I do know there is plenty enough room in the factory tailgate handle to install a simple flush mount camera just like the oem. Most of the cameras come with a small hole saw that is the right size, so if you’re comfortable taking the tailgate latch apart (really easy) and can use a drill, you can have a factory look without the expensive tailgate handle kit. Just will run the wire to wherever you mount the screen. Just a suggestion though.

And the angle down like factory will also show you the rear bumper and hitch.

just bought the same system for my 2016 with the basic radio. have not installed yet, worried about going thru the backup light wiring and if it would interfere with the over ride functions that Ran uses in its wiring system to control volt spikes and to report burned out lights. I don't think I will need to have my radio reflashed by the dealer, since im not changing anything just adding a wire to the backup lights. you're right about the price, the delaer wanted $499 for basically same camera installed using a camera on the rear tag holder and an extra $200 to install the camera in the tailgate handle. so i said no. I wanted to upgrade to an indash system and was willing to pay the extra for it, but dealer says no can do since the wiring is not designed for it and if i did then my uconnect would quit working. right now just using a $49. totally wireless system picked up at walmart that did not require any wiring, just put the camera on rear tag and plug small monitor into cigarette lighter and just turn it on when i back up and turn off when finished. works fine just want something that looks more factory.

Was the Garmin BC30 backup camera hard to install? I have a Garmin - DriveSmart 61 LMT-S 6.95" GPS so a 7" back up screen would be great...

I installed a system from Rear View Safety. I installed a dual system for the truck and trailer but you can order just 1 for the truck. It uses their camera in the tailgate handle and a new rear view mirror. Not just a clip on one over your original one. The new mirror has the added benefit of also being auto dimming at night. Also it comes with a remote control for adjusting the colored lines showing how close you are to something. You don't have to use any of the factory backup wiring. They tell you to hook it up to come on in reverse but I added a seperate switch so I can look behind me whenever I want. I've had no problem and it works well.

I have the same GPS. I paid Best Buy $75 TO INSTALL. I didn't want to mess with the wiring.
