Starting a few weeks ago, my battery had been getting a little weaker but still starting. With our cold snap last week, it wouldn't start. Same with it cold again today. Everytime it doesn't start, the starter gives a strong click & will take a jump box easily. I've charged it for 20 minutes with an old school charger & then let the gr8 do its thing. But the gr8 always fails the battery. Does anyone know of a way to revive these AGM batteries?

Mine started doing the same thing a while back, it's on it's way out. Don't think there is any reviving it. Plan on a new battery real soon.

You could try the conditioning and recovery procedures in this manual.

I have used them with some success, however note this is written for deep cycle batteries that I’m certain are better built than most starting batteries. And disconnect from your vehicle before applying high charge voltages. You don’t want to kill your vehicle electronics. Personally I would completely remove a battery from the vehicle in case something went sideways during the recovery charge.

I've never revived an AGM. Wet cells are another matter, but AGM is a kooky *******. When they're drained, they're often just dead. You can try putting an anti-sulphate trickle charger on it for 30 days every night when you get home and see if it brings it back some, but typically when they're dead, they're dead. I've had really good results (with wet cells) with the xtreme pulse charger.

Be extremely careful with high rate charging procedures. I have seen firsthand what happens when a battery explodes. I was in the next room about 15 feet away and it literally looked and sounded like a bomb went off in the other room. The only thing left was the bottom plastic case and 2 terminals still connected to the charger cables. Bits of molten lead and plastic were splattered everywhere in a 360 degree pattern horizontally and vertically. The two students in the room were taken to the emergency room with severe thermal and chemical burns. After they returned 6 months later, they said it was the most excruciating pain they have ever experienced due the acid burning the raw flesh from the molten lead burns. Their screams still give me chills. These injuries occurred despite the use of face shields and protective gloves.

Needless to say I have a very healthy respect for the energy in a battery. If they are bad I replace them rather than mess with them. $200 - $300 seems very cheap compared to an emergency room visit, 6 months of recovery and permanent scars. Though I suppose scars are just tattoo's with better stories and those guys have a story.

They put AGM batteries in the Hemi's from the factory also?
I have a new Odyssey coming for my EcoD, they come from the factory w/AGM batteries. The truck turned over slow the other day, having to heat up glow plugs and running low voltage can screw up vehicle electronics I'd prefer to get ahead of the battery going out.

I remember reading somewhere awhile ago that the agm charging voltage needs to be limited to prevent damage, forgot what it was though. That's one of the big reasons why Mopar came out with their new tester. I'm thinking I'll get a noco for home, since my shop use time is limited.
